Hawthorn Fruit May Prevent Cardiovascular Diseases.

These small shrubs that occur in the temperate regions of Europe, North America and Asia sprout white, strong smelling flowers and dazzling red berries containing either one or two seeds which were once commonly used as a diuretic. However, research has shown that hawthorn also has the potential to treat cardiovascular diseases like hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol) and atherosclerosis (plaque build up in the arteries) as they are packed with powerful antioxidants.
