“Did you know that millets are some of the oldest cultivated crops in the world? they can thrive in harsh environments without the need for chemical fertilizers or pesticides. That’s why we chose jowar for our gluten-free millet roti recipe – it’s not only nutritious but also soft and delicious,”

Ingredients 

  • 1/2 teaspoon jaggery powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon rock salt
  • 1/2 cup jowar flour
  • 1 tablespoon roasted flaxseed powder
  • 1/4 cup boiled and mashed sweet potato
  • 2 tablespoons chopped coriander
  • 2 tablespoons hot water

Method

Place all the ingredients into a mixing bowl, except the hot water. Mix well with your hands.

Add the hot water. combine everything, and knead into a dough. Cover, and allow to rest for 10 minutes.

Divide the dough into 4 balls. Dust the rolling board with some flour, flatten each ball, and place it on the rolling board. Roll each ball into a small roti of 3.5″ with a rolling pin (belan).

Heat a cast iron tawa and cook the rotis on medium flame. Do not use oil or ghee.

Serve warm with sabzi.
